Florida hospitals install electronic paper patient and room information displays

Hospitals can display information without the glare and blue light of a typical LCD screen

Landmark Hospitals in Naples, Fla., have replaced handwritten whiteboards with low power "E Ink"-based displays that pull essential information from Electronic Health Records for clinical staff and patients areas, according to an article on the Yahoo Finance website.

The technology can display information without the glare and blue light of a typical LCD screen.

The displays are easy to read at any viewing angle and just like paper, are easy on the eyes, allowing patients undisturbed sleep, a critical factor in healing, the article said.

“The Patient and Room Information Displays have the potential to prevent medical errors by displaying information such as a DNR order and allergies,” said Sara LaPorte, VP of Nursing at Landmark Hospitals.
