A resident at the Veterans Home of California – Fresno has tested positive for Legionnaires’ disease, according to an article on the Fresno Bee website.
No one else at the 300-bed long-term care facility in southwest Fresno has tested positive for the disease.
Residents, staff and visitors at the Veterans Home are getting bottled water and the water supply was being hyper-chlorinated. No bacteria was found in the taps.
The VA home is the latest Fresno facility to impose water restrictions due to a Legionnaires’ concern. Last year, two northeast Fresno nursing homes were investigated for the disease.
