Garland Raises More than $60K for Achievement Centers for Children

The Garland Company, Inc., a local employee-owned manufacturer of high-performance solutions for the commercial building envelope, raised more than $60,000 to support Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) in its effort to empower children and adults with disabilities and their families to achieve their greatest potential.

The employees at Garland’s headquarters on East 91st Street in Cleveland, Ohio, dedicated the week of May 21st to “Spirit Week” – their 9th annual summer fundraising event featuring competitions, raffles, auctions and other activities. Meanwhile, Garland’s sales representatives, who are located across the U.S., Canada and the UK, joined in the cause, sending in donations throughout the week.

This Spirit Week tradition of giving at Garland – now nearly a decade long – has become an important part of the culture both as a corporate mission and as a team builder for the corporate team in Cleveland. And, while the event is called Spirit “Week,” the tradition spilled over into the rest of the summer season with additional fundraisers and even a 5K race team for the ACC’s annual event, A Most Excellent Race.

Finally, as the summer ended, the staff at Garland happily presented a final donation check of $60,522 to the ACC staff.

“We are thrilled to support the work that ACC is doing for families in our community. To see our team here at Garland support the ACC’s mission and make a difference to families in need is extremely powerful – and it’s something we’re very proud of,” said Garland’s Director of Human Resources Antonette Toth.

More about ACC: In 2017, ACC served over 2,500 children and adults with disabilities and their families. Program areas include therapy services, education services including an Autism School, family support/social work services and recreation and adapted sports services. ACC is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
