Georgia Reopens Temporary Hospital in Atlanta To Deal With Covid Surge

The Georgia World Congress Center facility has a 120-bed capacity


Georgia has reopened the temporary hospital at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta as Covid-19 cases surge, according to an article on the Decaturish website.

The facility has a 120-bed capacity. as of July 30, Georgia had 182,286 cases confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,671 related deaths.

The temporary hospital will be equipped to treat a higher level of acuity in patients than the previous configuration during the months of May and June.

The state also  is partnering with Grady Health System to expand and renew the existing Regional Coordinating Center as the Georgia Coordinating Center. A makeshift hospital  was also set up in Baldwin County, according to an article on the WMAZ website.

Seventy-six beds were set up in the Youth ChalleNGe Academy in Milledgeville. Another 120 beds will be transported to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth for storage.
