GlaxoSmithKline selects TierPoint to support global data consolidation and recovery operations

TierPoint, a leading national provider of hybrid IT solutions, announced that it has been selected by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to support the company’s global data consolidation and protection initiatives.

GSK is one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. As part of its overall strategy to increase growth, reduce risk and improve long-term financial performance, a GSK team was tasked with consolidating a large portion of the company’s global hardware footprint and moving it offsite to a hardened, Tier III data center facility. After comprehensive assessments and an extensive audit of TierPoint systems and processes, GSK’s engineering team determined that TierPoint exceeded the strict infrastructure requirements initially set forth, resulting in the decision to relocate GSK’s networking computing unit to TierPoint’s TekPark facility in Pennsylvania.

“TekPark’s state-of-the-art design, scalability and growth potential, along with highly redundant and concurrently maintainable systems meet the critical uptime and operational efficiency requirements of GSK’s Customer global network,” said William Trifaro, Director of GSK Data Centre Operations and Facilities. “TierPoint’s ability to deliver capacities and security levels that far exceed industry standards became the tipping factors in our decision.”

“Increasingly, our customers want more than a traditional colocation solution.  They are seeking a highly-customized Hybrid IT model that delivers the highest levels of risk mitigation available for cloud and colocation infrastructure,” said Bob Hicks, TierPoint Senior Vice President, Operations. “TierPoint’s capabilities in helping customers meet stringent compliance requirements and provide robust network security strategy differentiate us in the market.  We are excited to provide such a comprehensive solution to GSK.”

TierPoint’s TekPark facility has a comprehensive portfolio of compliance certifications, including HIPAA, PCI Cloud, PCI DSS, GLBA, and ITAR.  In response to growing demand, TierPoint is making significant investments to build-out facilities in Pennsylvania and elsewhere; offer enhanced services such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection; and augment public, private, and hybrid cloud solutions.
