Health system teams with Walgreens to expand retail clinic model

Providence Health & Services partnership will stress care coordination, chronic care and interconnected electronic health records


Providence Health & Services is partnering with Walgreens to expand its retail clinic model, according to an article on the Hospitals & Health Networks website.

The initiative with focus on care coordination, chronic care and interconnected electronic health records. 

Providence intends to integrate the 25 planned clinics into its primary care model and will staff the clinics with its own advanced practice nurse providers. 

The move comes after Providence brought in non-healthcare experts to assist with its intention to be a disruptor of how healthcare is provided, the article said.
