Healthcare Related IT Topics to be Explored at NY Tech Summit


Several healthcare related IT topics aimed at helping to educate professionals in the field will take place at the 13thannual NY Tech Summit, June 7-9 at Turning Stone Resort and Casino.

This session will focus on what an organization needs to do to be in compliance with HIPAA, PCI, and the new Department of Financial Services (DFS) security regulations. This session will cover all of the required and addressable controls for HIPAA security compliance as well as those required controls for PCI and DFS compliance. Healthcare organizations and business associates of healthcare organizations will learn the framework for HIPAA compliance and the specific types of security controls required.  Any organization that takes credit card payments will learn what PCI compliance means and how to understand what your specific responsibilities are under PCI regulations and the specific security controls required. Insurance, Banking and other financial organizations will learn how to comply with the new DFS cyber security regulations.

How do I implement a system with my internal IT being so busy? Upstate University Hospital took a web based hosted contract management system for one department into a facility wide system. Being able to search across multiple departments and find who is responsible, or the status of the contract or a copy of the contract. There are even alerts that email individuals. You can create tasks for yourself or others within the system.
