Because of changes in the healthcare industry, some organizations have created positions to help the C-suite navigate, according to an article on the Fierce Healthcare website.

The new age of healthcare is adding a chief reputation officer, chief quality officer, chief empathy officer and a chief patient experience officer to the C-Suite.

Many healthcare organizations aren't used to viewing hospital operations through the eyes of the consumer - that's why the chief patient experience officer is needed.

Hospitals with chief patient experience officers may give every department a "point person" for their patient experience goals.
