New advances in the industry are creating a need for employees


New advances in the industry, including cybersecurity, are creating a need for employees at Healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Fierce Healthcare IT website.

Employee knowledge of IT systems and security is paramount because a company or hospital's own employees are some of the biggest security threats, according to the article.

"Your workforce is a potential vulnerability to your network," said Ari Baranoff, assistant special agent in charge for the U.S. Secret Service's Criminal Investigative Division. "Constantly educating your workforce and testing your workforce on their cyberhygiene is very important."

"Just knowing IT is not enough," said Peter Gilbert, application development manager at Meridian Health Plan. "You need to know the business that you support to make effective use of technology."
