Healthcare facilities stepping up electronic security

HIPAA compliance has created the need for additional access control and video surveillance in sensitive areas of the hospital


Healthcare organizations are stepping up electronic security for their facilities, according to an article on the Security Info Watch website.

"With the compliance required today (and going forward), these organizations have realized security systems are a vital part of safety and security and reporting requirements,” said Tom Hanes, branch manager for San Jose, Calif.-based security integrator RFI Communications & Security Systems. 

HIPAA compliance has created the need for additional access control and video surveillance in sensitive areas of the hospital.

Access control of pharmaceuticals also has risen to the forefront, and integrators are finding wireless and video surveillance are making the job much easier.
