Healthcare facility's hybrid construction method combines integrated delivery model, incremental permitting and collaborative review

The designers of the new Ventura County Medical Center used an hybrid construction to speed up construction and increase planning efficiency, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The hybrid can yield big dividends for the building owner, the article said. 

One goal of the project was to demonstrate to California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) how to successfully deliver the state’s first design-build hospital program without bridging documents. 

The alignment of schedule, program and design required a highly collaborative approach with construction, design and client feedback informing every major decision.
