Healthcare laundries evolve to deal with emerging issues

Laundries competing in healthcare will need to be more professional in their operations


Healthcare laundries face issues that impact both patient health and their own business, according to an article on the American Laundry News website.

For instance, a laundry was included in the recent wrongful death lawsuits against the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). A laundry and the hospital were sued when patients died after apparently contracting mold-related infections from tainted bed linens. 

Other laundry challenges are sustainability, competition from disposables and cost management. 

In order to deal with these issues, experts say healthcare laundries must continually grow and change.
