Healthcare facilities are looking to improve efficiency, resiliency and cost

Healthcare facilities are looking to improve their power efficiency, resiliency and cost, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Combined heat and power systems (CHP) systems are growing in popularity among healthcare facilities. CHP systems generate electricity and then use the exhaust heat to create steam that can be used in heating and cooling systems.

CHP systems typically use natural gas, the cleanest-burning of fossil fuels. Prices for natural gas have declined the U.S. recently, which means that hospitals can lower costs and emissions, the article said.

However, a CHP system likely will demand additional staff as existing facility staffs probably will not have the experience to operate and maintain the system.
