Healthcare system launches virtual appointment effort

'Video Visit' expands on Aurora’s telemedicine offerings

Aurora Health Care has launched a new virtual appointment system to expand on its telemedicine offerings, according to an article on the BizTimes Milwaukee website.

Called “Video Visit,” the service is designed for patients with common conditions, like cold, flu, headache or sinus infection, among others.

The patient can see the physician, and vice versa. Then they can have a live chat. A pool of physicians is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the Video Visits.

An Aurora spokesperson said he sees the video appointments as a supplement to traditional services, not a replacement of patients’ relationships with health care practitioners.
