Homeland Security Resource Targets Security Gaps

Guidance aims to help with risk decisions and remediation of compromises of SolarWinds Orion platforms

The recent SolarWinds cyberattack, which affected the California Department of State Hospitals among its victims, offers managers a sobering reminder that attackers will continue to exploit gaps in cybersecurity as healthcare systems struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recently released new guidance to help support security leaders and information technology managers with risk decisions and remediation of successful compromises of SolarWinds Orion platforms, according to Health IT Security.

Along with th California hospitals, hundreds of U.S. government agencies, critical infrastructure entities, and private sector organizations have been impacted by the compromise of certain SolarWinds platforms as part of a massive campaign targeting the global supply-chain, first disclosed in December 2020.
