Hospital dashboard helps manage patient capacity and beds

Boston Children's Hospital has outgrown its facility, so analytics for patient placement has become critical while it waits for new buildings

Boston Children's Hospital had installed a new dashboard to help manage patient capacity and beds. The hospital has outgrown its facility, so analytics for patient placement has become critical while it waits for new buildings, according to an article on the Healthcare IT News website.

Its new venues for clinical care should be ready in a few years.

In the meantime, Boston Children's built a real-time operational dashboard that enables the hospital to have situational awareness of the minute-to-minute status of its capacity and its future capacity to care for more patients, the article said.

The integrated view gives everyone from senior leadership to front-line supervisor staff the ability to see the hospital’s capacity in real time. The platform is intended to be used in leadership huddles in the morning and throughout the day.
