Hospital room floors may be a greater infection threat than healthcare facility staffers realize, according to an article on the Doctors Lounge website.
A study published in the American Journal of Infection Control says this area is overlooked when it comes to infection control.
Floors in patient rooms are often contaminated with health care-associated pathogens.
The researchers also found that 41 percent of patient-occupied rooms had one or more "high-touch" objects in contact with the floor.
