Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania deploys LiveData OR-Dashboard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—LiveData, Inc. today announced that the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) has installed LiveData OR-Dashboard, the company’s operational efficiency and patient safety platform, in all seven of HUP’s cardiovascular operating rooms. The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is world-renowned for its clinical and research excellence, forging the way for newer and better ways to diagnose and treat illnesses and disorders. LiveData is a leading innovator in real-time data integration and display technology.

In step with the perioperative workflow, OR-Dashboard combines comprehensive real-time data from hospital information systems and diverse medical devices with surgical workflow automation. Images and data are continuously updated and displayed by side on large wall-mounted screens providing every member of the OR team with clear and immediate access to critical information about the patient, procedure, and equipment.

“Effective team communication and real-time access to patient data are important functions in operating rooms,” said Jim Mullen, M.D., Associate Executive Director, HUP. “Adding new technology to our existing resources that will keep everyone on the same page will be an invaluable asset.”

OR-Dashboard increases workflow efficiency and productivity by streamlining interaction with other parts of the hospital to improve OR and PACU scheduling, ensuring that surgeon preferences are understood, and identifying missing tray and cart items before the procedure begins. Hospitals can capitalize on their existing IT investments and accelerate payback from currently installed IT technology by collecting vital data from various systems, such as electronic medical records, pharmacy, lab, and resource tracking systems.

“HUP has a legendary history of innovation in patient care,” said LiveData CEO Jeff Robbins. “We add to that legacy by bringing our own patient safety innovations to HUP, reinforcing a culture of safety throughout the perioperative process. We are honored to have earned their trust.”
