Workers have expressed safety fears over a new parking permit plan at Torbay Hospital in South Devon, U.K. after 657 hospital employees were refused parking permits on site during normal working hours, according to an article on the Herald Express website.
Staff have criticized the process saying it will put lone females at risk.
A nurse said: "We work 12-hour shifts, arriving in the pitch black in the winter and leaving in the same conditions. We will now be expected to walk many miles to our cars.
"Currently, there is so little parking around the hospital which is not already listed as permit only. I cannot see how every nurse is going to be able to park, which will lead to turning up to shifts late."
