Hospital sterilizing departments recognized

The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management has announced the winners of its 2016 awards


The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management has recognized hospital sterilizing departments with its 2016 awards, according to Becker's Hospital Review.

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics' (Iowa City) sterile processing department won the Confidence Builder Award.

Francisco Rodriguez, manager of central sterile at Good Samaritan Hospital (Suffern, N.Y.) was recognized as the Central Service Supervisor/Manager of the Year Award.

Patricia Pabon, a central sterile technician at St. John's Riverside Hospital (Yonkers, N.Y.) won the Decontaminator of the Year Award for writing an outstanding paper focusing on understanding the importance of decontamination in the workplace environment.
