With thousands of people pouring into Cleveland and Philadelphia for political conventions, healthcare facilities have prepped for all sizes of medical emergencies, according to an article on the WBT website.

In Cleveland, the three major health systems worked out a coordination plan to ensure they can handle a mass casualty event.

At Cleveland Clinic, officials put 200 surge plans in place to address everything from an increased number of dehydration cases to mass disaster responses.

MetroHealth System, which runs the other Level-1 trauma center in Cleveland, said they expedited construction on a new ICU center to ensure they had extra beds before the convention.
