IT Professionals to Take Part in Educational Workshops at NY Tech Summit

Educational workshops focusing on the latest technological trends and challenges will shape the agenda for IT professionals attending the 13th annual NY Tech Summit, June 7-9 at Turning Stone Resort and Casino.

The first day of the NY Tech Summit will focus on four pre-conference workshops led by industry leaders:

HIPAA, PCI, and DFS Security Compliance, presented by James Shea, President, Cyber Defense Institute

This session will examine what an organization needs to do to be in compliance with HIPAA, PCI, and the new Department of Financial Services (DFS) security regulations. It will cover all of the required and addressable controls for HIPAA security compliance, as well as those required controls for PCI and DFS compliance.

Cisco Meraki Mini-Lab, presented by Sean Miller, Systems Engineer, Cisco

In this lab, attendees will learn about the entire portfolio of Cisco Meraki, including: Intelligent Wan Routing, MX Security Appliances, MS Switches, MR Access Points, and Mobile Device Management. Attendees will also learn how to create their own network with multiple VLANs, wireless SSIDs, different user profiles, traffic shaping, content filtering and more -- all remotely over the cloud. Cisco Meraki Auto VPN technology will be used to establish Full Mesh Connectivity across all sites and back to headquarters -- with just a couple of clicks!

Brain Speak - How Not to Aggravate, Agitate or Annihilate Those Around You, presented by Dr. KAZ, Brain Trainer, Competitive Balance

Attendees to this workshop will learn how to become more effective in their daily communications and leadership at work and home by becoming more aware of the natural Brain Preferences that drive their core values. In a humorous and practical way, Dr. KAZ will challenge attendees to determine how their Brain Preferences affect the way they are perceived and perceive others.

In this workshop, attendees will walk through how companies of all sizes can reduce their cyber risk by ensuring their users are provided with cyber security training that's relevant to the business AND them. Good cyber security training allows a two-way dialogue with the business and helps reduce the companies’ risk profiles.

More educational opportunities for IT professionals on the next two days of the NY Tech Summit include:

  • 35 educational sessions on topics including: corporate awareness, cloud strategies, IT evolution, transformational leadership, and several roundtable discussions about current and emerging technologies, case studies and industry trends presented by practicing IT professionals, industry experts and thought leaders.

Havens’ hilarious and powerful keynote address, Uncrapify Your Life!, will help attendees achieve success in leadership, customer service, communication, and corporate culture. He will share the three-step process, which innovation throughout all of human history has inevitably followed, as well as other high-quality educational lessons in an undeniably entertaining way.
  • An exhibit floor of more than 30 vendors including the Tech Sandbox where IT professionals can learn, network, and gain hands-on experience with similar people in their industry.
