Ice damages Pennsylvania VA healthcare center

Ice and cold damaged the recently built community health center at the VA Butler Healthcare System

Ice and cold damaged the recently built community health center at the VA Butler Healthcare System, according to an article on the TribLIVE website.

Ice jams on the building's roof damaged ceilings and walls in six rooms, reducing the 60-bed facility to 54 beds.

VA officials did not say whether the problems could be construction-related.

“It's very disappointing,” said Arthur Greathead, director of the Third Congressional District Military Veterans Advocate Group. “I know that I and many others are concerned that something brand new has multiple problems.”

Other recent issues include frozen groundwater drains in basement window wells that damaged a wall in a pharmacy staff break room.

Also, a frozen sprinkler pipe caused water damage in the auditorium in February.
