Infection control in five Irish hospitals hampered by overcrowding, according to an article on the Irish Examiner website.

A new report suggests the issue is also being impacted by old and unsuitable infrastructure.

In five hospital inspections were carried out between April and June, maintenance and infrastructural deficits were found in in three hospitals had not been addressed since the last inspection.

All five hospitals reportedly have leadership, governance and management arrangements for infection prevention and controls were in place.
