Turning the key locks the bollard into its embedment sleeve, and it can only be removed by unlocking the conveniently located tamper-proof lock. When the bollard is removed, the flip top lid on the embedment sleeve will fall down, covering the exposed hole. To avoid possible injury due to an opening when the bollard is removed, two options are available: an attached lid that folds down to cover the opening, or a lockable/removable lid that locks into place when the bollard is removed.
