The original date anticipated for the state to take ownership of the Broughton Hospital in Morganton was in late 2014. But problems with the floor elevation, as well as other issues, has delayed the project, according to an article on The News Herald website.
Other issues include weather, soil corrections and fireproofing.
Soil corrections mean that the contractor ensures that soils meet the project specifications. Fireproofing sprayed on the structural framing also needs to meet the specifications.
The state continues to work with the contractor to address the issues to minimize the impact to the project schedule, the article said.
While there have been issues that needed to be fixed, contractors and subcontractors have continued to work on the mental health hospital, state officials said.
