The Joint Commission recently approved the deletion of 131 requirements from its hospital program, according to a notice on the organization website.
The requirements were identified as having become a routine part of operations and clinical practice.
The deletions are not expected to affect quality and safety.
The move is the result of a multi-phased project to improve the accreditation and certification process.
