LAUFEN's bathroom products win two ADEX Awards

MIAMI — LAUFEN, the designers and manufacturers of contemporary bathroom furniture and fixtures, announced today that two of its recent collections have been recognized with awards for design excellence from ADEX.

The Kartell by Laufen collection was honored with the Platinum 2014 ADEX Award and the revolutionary SaphirKeramik ceramic was recognized with Gold. The coveted Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX Awards) are bestowed annually and constitute the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade. DESIGN JOURNAL, the international trade publication for interior designers, architects and facility managers, is the proud sponsor of the ADEX Awards.

ADEX judges are among the A&D industry’s most respected in their respective areas of expertise. The ADEX Award represents the best product and project designs of the year in the opinion of those who matter the most.

“We are so pleased and honored that the industry has responded so well to our newest collections and our five-years-in-the-making SaphirKeramik ceramic,” said Javier Korneluk, US Managing Director for LAUFEN. “Collaborating with the iconic Kartell brand and Roberto and Ludovica Palomba to create the Kartell by Laufen collection was a bold choice for LAUFEN, and it is gratifying to see that these designs and materials are receiving such accolades.”

The Kartell by Laufen Collection is the innovative collaboration inspired by the iconic design of Kartell combined with LAUFEN’s revolutionary SaphirKeramik ceramics. Combining the playful luxury plastic of Kartell with the elegant contemporary ceramic designs of LAUFEN, the architects Roberto and Ludovica Palomba have crafted a collection for the ages. The new washbasins, which are made of SaphirKeramik, have revolutionized washbasin design. Thinner than traditional fireclay ceramics but with greater flexural strength, this new technology allows greater design freedom and creativity. When seen in combination with seating, mirrors, accessories and shelving, all available in seven delicious color choices, the bathroom will never be the same.
