Longterm care needs tech innovation

Many organizations say they’re not prepared to use innovative tools as part of a value-based strategy

Many longterm care  facilities say they’re not prepared to use innovative tools as part of a value-based strategy, according to an article on the HealthTech website.

A report published last fall by Black Book Research found that just 3 percent of inpatient longterm care providers surveyed say they deploy data analytics technology with a goal of cutting unnecessary hospital readmissions and lowering care costs.

Seniors are taking notice, the article said. Thirty-five percent of adults 55 and older recently surveyed say their health plans don’t use any technology to improve access, information or care — and they want a change.

Eighty percent of those surveyed said technology will improve care within five years by helping facilitate disease prevention.
