New type of vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl tile, is second only to carpeting in how frequently it is installed, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Luxury vinyl tile mimics traditional floors such as hardwood, stone, ceramic and other materials. It is the result of new technologies that help manufacturers replicate the look of traditional floors.

Most vinyl floors are designed to be durable and stain- and scratch-resistant. Higher-quality vinyl flooring is thicker, making it more long-lasting. 

When installing a vinyl floor it is advised to install wide rolls to minimize the number of seams in the floor, as soil, moisture and debris can work their way into the seams and under the vinyl affecting the adhesive.
