MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - Leading elevator drive and solutions manufacturer Magnetek, Inc., has announced its subsidiary, Magnetek (UK) Limited, has extended its arrangement with the historic National Lift Tower, located in Northampton, UK, into a third year. The strategic partnership extension will allow the Company to advance its dynamic elevator software and hardware development schedule.
The National Lift Tower was built in the late 1970s and was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982. The privately owned research and testing facility stands 418.1 feet tall and is the tallest tower of its kind in Europe. At its base, the tower is 47.9 feet in diameter and tapers to 27.9 feet at the top and contains six lift shafts of varying heights and speeds including a high speed shaft.
"The Lift Tower facility provides us with the opportunity and ability to test and prove out hardware concepts, install new products, and analyze new software advancements in a working environment before they are released,” said Brian Preston, General Manager of Magnetek’s UK operations. “We are pleased to continue our work at the Lift Tower and look forward to advancing our research and development partnership with this historic facility."
