Man charged in security officer’s death at Pa. hospital

The officer died a month after an altercation with a psychiatric patient at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital


A man who was a patient at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital in Beaver, Pa., when he allegedly attacked a security officer has been charged with homicide, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

The officer died a month after an altercation with the patient.

According to a police report, the patient assaulted several security officers and medical staff members who were called to help administer medication.

The security officer collapsed during the altercation and later died after more than a month on life support. A forensic pathologist concluded that the officer's death was caused by a “medical event” that occurred during the altercation.
