Mazzetti and GBA merger unites the leaders in healthcare engineering and technology consulting

Mazzetti Inc., a global engineering design and consulting firm, and Nashville-based Gene Burton & Associates (GBA), the country’s largest independent healthcare technology consulting firm, have merged. The merged company will retain the Mazzetti Inc. name and the combined brand will be known as Mazzetti GBA.

“As technology rapidly permeates healthcare and other highly complex industries, facility owners need tangible solutions that envision the future and deliver it,” said Walt Vernon, Mazzetti CEO, who will continue in this role. “The merger of Mazzetti and GBA unites the market leaders in healthcare engineering and technology consulting. Together, Mazzetti GBA will provide innovative solutions that produce better outcomes and a better future for our clients and our world.”

GBA CEO Suzan Logan and Senior Vice President Ted Hood will be Mazzetti principals and lead Mazzetti’s technology division. All team members and office locations of the two companies will remain. The combined firm will have a staff of 220 and 11 locations: Irvine, Sacramento and San Francisco, Calif.; Denver, Colo.; Portland, Ore.; two offices in Nashville, Tenn.; Arlington and Houston, Texas; Seattle, Wash.; and Bengaluru, India.

“The technically complex industries we serve, exemplified by healthcare, must increasingly reinvent themselves,” said Logan. “Mazzetti GBA will be stronger and more nimble, enabling us to stay at the forefront of technology and IT integration to help our clients seize new opportunities. Together, we will provide a single source solution to integrate virtually every technology that transforms a facility into an exceptional delivery platform.”

For more than 50 years, Mazzetti has planned, designed and built the infrastructure for technologically advanced facilities. And for nearly 30 years, GBA has been the leader in healthcare technology consulting and IT. “Suzan, Ted and I saw the opportunity to bring our complementary firms together, each firm finding the ideal partner to help our clients continue to move into the future,” said Vernon.
