McLaren Engineering Group Expands its Special Inspections Division

McLaren Engineering Group, a full-service engineering firm, is expanding its Special Inspections Division, focusing on New York City’s bustling construction industry. This service line, which helps developers building and renovating structures in NYC, is managed by McLaren’s new Director of Special Inspections, Nicholas Bailey.

“Special Inspections are a natural growth opportunity for us, rounding out our overall service package from design to inspection to construction engineering,” says Malcolm McLaren, President and CEO, McLaren Engineering Group.  “We take clients from water’s edge design through vertical structure design to construction, and offer a comprehensive suite of services.”

Special inspections are performed as building and building-related projects are erected, and occur throughout the construction process. The inspections are performed on nearly every aspect of a new structure, including a review of the structural steel, welding, bolting, masonry and interior fit out of a building, ensuring owners can obtain an occupancy permit from the city.

“This service allows our clients to have confidence in knowing that what is being built is consistent with what was originally designed,” said Nicholas Bailey, Director of Special Inspections, McLaren Engineering Group. “We are offering a second and third set of eyes in the field to witness the construction process and make sure it’s being done properly every step of the way.”

Bailey has spent over 15 years executing and managing Special Inspections. His experience conducting on-site inspections of construction methods and materials includes the World Trade Center site, the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Farmingdale, NY and the MacArthur Airport Air Traffic Control Tower in Islip, NY.
