New Joint Commission regulations and standards for medical equipment maintenance were recently announced tat accreditation standards with updated regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.
The new requirements will require considerably more of a facility manager's resources to maintain their medical equipment.
The new rules require the overhaul of medical equipment maintenance plans, full inventories, following manufacturer maintenance recommendations to the letter, identifying high-risk equipment, revising policies and procedures, and monitoring the credentials of maintenance personnel.
The new standards will require immediate attention as well as more money, time and personnel, according to the article.
