Missouri healthcare facilities increase security after threatening call

An anonymous caller promised “bloodshed” in a threatening phone message left at a University of Missouri Health Care facility

University of Missouri Health Care increased security at all its facilities after a threatening call promised “bloodshed” in a phone message, according to an article on the Columbia Tribune website.

MU Health System employees were notified  that officials had “implemented enhanced security measures” in all facilities. The email directed employees who might see anything suspicious to call the emergency number for their facility.

“You and your system will be responsible for this bloodshed that’s about to happen,” the caller said. “I’ve been off parole; I’m a violent criminal for attempted murder. And because of you guys, holding back on my meds.”

“We don’t talk about what enhanced security measures are,” Teresa Snow, communications manager for MU Health said. Snow said MU Health security had been in contact with the MU Police Department.

“For our security, we just don’t talk about specifics of what the concerns were,” she said.
