Missouri long-term care facility fire injures resident

Fire blamed on loose wire in an electrical outlet


A resident of a Bolivar, Mo., long-term care facility fire suffered burns from an electric fire, according to an article on the Springfield News-Leader website.

The nursing staff at the Parkview Healthcare Facility used a fire extinguisher to put out most of the fire, and the Bolivar Fire Department arrived to finish the job.

Three people were taken to the hospital. A resident and staff member were treated and released for smoke inhalation, and another resident was hospitalized with burns.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was caused by a loose wire in an electrical outlet.
