More than 60 percent connected one year from the launch of HIE platform

The majority of Abu Dhabi’s hospitals are now digitally connected, just over a year from the implementation of the UAE’s first Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform, according to an article on the Healthcare IT News website.

More than 60 percent of hospitals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital are now part of the platform.

The HIE reportedly currently connects 35 healthcare groups, as well as 40 hospitals and 403 clinics.

An estimated 25,923 doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals now have access, enabling them to “make better-informed decisions by safely and securely accessing vital medical information,” according to the health department.

Providing world-class healthcare is one of six pillars of the UAE’s Vision 2021 National Agenda. Abu Dhabi  has set specific priorities, including reducing capacity gaps, improving the quality of healthcare services, and attracting and retaining top healthcare professionals.
