Summer coming to an end signifies that a new year is quickly approaching, leaving many managers to prepare for the remainder of the year. However, a series of recalls on facility-related products have forced managers to shift their budgets to replace recalled items. Often citing safety concerns, several essential products had to be returned out of fear of consumers potentially harming themselves or their employees.

For the safety of our readers, Healthcare Facilities Today has closely followed all recall notices related to the industry. Here are the top recalls to be aware of so far in 2025.

1.) Ariens – DELUXE, PLATINUM and PROFESSIONAL series Snow Throwers According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice, the impeller and auger assembly on several lines of Ariens snow throwers can rotate after the control lever has been shut off, potentially causing laceration hazards for users.

FMs who purchased the snow throwers should stop using them and contact Ariens Company or one of its dealers for a free repair.

2.) Kawasaki Motors – John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with Kawasak Engines The voltage regulator in the mower’s engine can fail during use or while the product is being stored, causing overheating and potential fire and burn hazards. Nearly 39,000 units were recalled, with five reports of fires and 26 reports of melting or smoking.

FMS should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for repair. The companies also contacted all known purchasers directly.

3.) NTI – Residential Gas Boilers Nearly 800 boilers were recalled after it was found that the boiler door can fail to seal properly due to incorrect door studs allowing flames and gas to escape. At the time of this report, no injuries have been reported.

FMs who purchased this model from an independent heating or plumbing contractor between September 2024 and February 2025 should stop using it and contact the manufacturer for a repair at no cost.

4.) Doosan Bobcat North America – Bobcat & Steiner AirFX Finish Mower Deck Attachments The units were recalled as the mower decks can’t be secured in the upright or tilted position by the locking pins during maintenance or service, creating a crush hazard. Five incidents have been reported, however there have been no injuries.

Managers should inspect and determine if the locking pins can be inserted while the deck is in the upright or tilted position during maintenance or service. If the locking pins can’t be inserted, managers can get two straps to wrap around each front tractor axle while performing maintenance. Straps can be provided by the manufacturer for no cost.

Doosan Bobcat North America or a Bobcat dealer can be contacted to obtain a free repair.

5.) Veyer WorkPro – Momentum Office Chair A manufacturing defect can cause users of an office chair to fall, causing seven reports and two minor injuries. The bolts that connect to the base can come loose, creating the fall hazard.

Chairs should immediately be swapped out and FMs can contact Veyer for a free repair kit.
