The Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center sent the family of a deceased patient her blood-stained clothing three months after her death, according to an article on the Becker's Hospital Review website.
The Winston-Salem, N.C., healthcare facility issued an apology Aug. 8.
The woman, 23, died at Wake Forest Baptist April 30 from a gunshot wound to the head. Her family reportedly asked the hospital for her belongings at the time, but was told she did not have anything when she came to the facility.
The woman's parents said they received a call from a Wake Forest Baptist employee in Early August asking if they wanted their daughter's belongings. The employee said she did not know what was in the package and was not allowed to open the plastic bag.
