A resident at The Commons on St. Anthony healthcare facility in Auburn, N.Y., has tested positive for Legionnaires' disease and trace amounts of legionella have been detected in the water system there, according to an article on The Citizen website.
Testing took place after one resident tested positive a lung infection caused by a bacterial infection.
There was a water restriction in place until the facility could be assured that the water tests are normal.
It was discovered that the bacterium was in the facility's potable water and not in its cooling system. The facility is on the Auburn municipal water system, but there was no danger that the water outside the facility is contaminated.
