National Health IT Week kicks off Sept. 16

Week-long celebration includes Health IT Technology Showcase and Policy Summit

From Sept. 16-20, healthcare industry and policy stakeholders will convene for the Eighth Annual National Health IT Week, a collaborative forum for public and private healthcare constituents to discuss the value of health information technology (IT) for the U.S. healthcare system. 

The weeks lineup of events include:

• NHIT Week Virtual Press Briefing – HIMSS executives will preview NHIT Week events and news online on Sept. 12 at noon ET.

• Consumer Health IT Summit – The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) will host an educational event about public and private sector led advancements to equip and empower patients to better manage their health in a digital era on Monday, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. ET in the Hubert H. Humphrey Building.

• Capitol Hill Health IT Technology Showcase – This year, the annual Capitol Hill Health IT Tech Showcase hosted by the Institute for e-Health Policy, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rayburn House Office Building, room B340, and Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hart Senate Office Building, room 902. The event will feature the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.

• NHIT Week Press Conference –Members of Congress and HIMSS executives will come together for a press conference on Sept. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hart Senate Office Building, room 902.

• HIMSS 12th Annual Policy Summit – HIMSS members will discuss future health IT policy, learn more about key issues and share stories of their health IT experiences with their congressional representatives. The summit will be held on Sept. 18 and 19 at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington DC.
