National Office Furniture Launches Home-ing From Work CEU Addressing the Respitality Movement

National Office Furniture, a unit of Kimball International, Inc., introduces a new Continuing Education Unit (CEU) course to educate design professionals on the emergence of residential and hospitality influences into commercial environments. Through their Home-ing From Work CEU, National offers an in-depth, research-based course outlining the workplace shift that’s progressing into the design community. This course is accredited by IDCEC and AIA, and earns designers credits toward fulfillment of their continuing education requirements.

In the CEU, National explores how residential inspired design is merging into workspaces and evolving the look and feel of the office. Not only does the CEU give information about this movement and how it can be addressed in today’s commercial spaces, the CEU addresses what’s driving this trend while sharing measurable results of how companies are using these spaces to attract and retain top talent, both now and in the generations to come.

In conjunction with Contract Consulting Group (CCG), National interviewed 250 Architecture and Design professionals. Extensive interviews were also conducted with key influencers in the design industry to learn about the influx of residential and hospitality furniture in the workplace. This research has verified that casual comfort is becoming more prevalent in projects throughout the contract furniture industry. These home-like spaces are creating comfortable, non-traditional areas for employees and guests within commercial areas. This research has been a catalyst for National’s product development and innovation, as well as creating this CEU to share learnings.

“Providing continuing education benefits the design community and allows us to share knowledge,” said Angie Schuch, National’s Director of Marketing. “National is pleased to provide this service to architects and designers, and fortunate to create open dialog about market needs and emerging trends.”
