New ALM Board Announced

The Association for Linen Management (ALM) has announced the appointment of David Bernstein, president of Lapauw USA, and Jason Hartsell, director of operations at United Hospital Services (UHS), LLC, to the ALM Board of Directors. They will join incoming Board president Judy Reino beginning July 1, 2018.

“Our membership encompasses the entirety of the textile care industry, and we are so proud to have strong members on our Board that understand our roles in serving industry professionals,” said Reino, president of Reino Linen Services. “David and Jason will bring extensive combined knowledge and fresh ideas to ensure ALM maintains its position as the textile industry’s best resource.”

Bernstein was appointed by the Board to fill the seat of Allied Trades Director. He is in his third decade of serving the laundry industry with experience in machinery manufacturing and specification, consulting, laundry planning, process improvement, operations, and association management. Bernstein is known as an industry volunteer and advocate, and has worked with ALM for many years as both a conference speaker and a faculty member of ALM’s Laundry & Linen College.

“I am honored to have been asked to join the Board of Directors of ALM, and it will be my privilege to serve,” said Bernstein. “As we saw at the recent 2018 IMPACT Conference in Savannah, ALM is a thriving, vigorous, and deeply involved community of like-minded laundry owners, laundry and linen managers, and suppliers, all of whom are focused on industry growth, research, advocacy, and education. I look forward to working with the professional staff and the Board of Directors to help guide and grow the organization into the future.”

Hartsell was appointed by the ALM Board to fulfill the unexpired term of treasurer, vacated by Richard Bott, RLLD, CLLM, upon his election to president-elect. Hartsell, currently director of operations, joined UHS in June of 2004 and has worked in various roles at UHS, including the director of customer service and sales, IT, and purchasing manager. He served 14 years as both a Non-Commissioned and Commissioned Officer with the Indiana Army National Guard. From 2010 to 2011, Hartsell was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

“I’m excited to be part of an organization that is so central to improving laundry knowledge and textile care across the entire laundry industry,” said Hartsell.

As we announced in April, current Board president Cindy Molko, RLLD, CLLM, will transition to immediate past president. Current treasurer Richard Bott, RLLD, CLLM, was chosen by the membership to serve as president-elect through June 2020, before assuming the role of president. Board members Kathy Harris, RLLD, CLLM, and Nathan Rivers, RLLD, CLLM, were re-elected as directors. Janice Larson, CLLM, and Randy Wendland, CLLM, are retiring from service on the Board at the conclusion of their terms. Shane Woodson, RLLD, will continue to serve as secretary.

Contact information for ALM Board leadership is available on ALM’s website, under Members, About ALM, Meet Our Leadership. All ALM Board members will assume their new roles as of July 1, 2018.
