Modern HVAC systems present both new challenges and new opportunities when integrating with electrical systems, according to an article on the Consulting Specifying Engineer website.

Mechanical systems have evolved not only technologically, but also in how they're purchased.

Tight project schedules are driving contractors to purchase large mechanical equipment components well in advance of the design completion. 

Engineers should be familiar with the technical differences in the modern HVAC systems, and how to account for packaged mechanical equipment the article said.
