New Mipolam Flooring Invigorates Original Design

Gerflor USA brings new life to the original homogeneous sheet flooring, Mipolam, with Mipolam Affinity – extending its legacy of innovation and strengthening its value to the healthcare market for over 80 years.

Designed in consultation with U.S. healthcare design professionals and manufactured to meet the demands of the healthcare environment, Mipolam Affinity’senhanced colors and updated technology provide contemporary commercial spaces with the durability they need and the color variation designers desire.

“Insights from the market are always invaluable,” said Catherine del Vecchio, senior director of marketing at Gerflor USA. “It’s an essential element of our design process that helps us ensure Gerflor’s products fill voids, solve problems, and achieve design goals and visions. When healthcare designers across the country wished for more blues and greys, neutral colors and natural inspired looks, we listened. And Mipolam Affinity was born.”

Since 1937, Gerflor’s Mipolam has grown from a single product line to 15 different lines with more than 300 colors available worldwide. The new Mipolam Affinity features a non-directional design available in 28 tone-on-tone colors. A nod to flexibility in design, Affinity’s color palette matches that of Mipolam Accord, allowing designers to coordinate flooring patterns with the same color palette for a seamless aesthetic. Affinity has a tone-on-tone directional design pattern; Accord is a semi-directional, marbleized design.

Beyond updated aesthetics, Mipolam Affinity proves to be a sustainable and safe choice for healthcare applications. With close to zero VOCs, and its Evercare no wax maintenance protocol, Mipolam Affinity provides the best indoor air quality to staff and patients. It’s naturally bacteriostatic, helping to prevent the spread of common hospital acquired infections, such as MRSA and E Coli.

It contains 25 percent recycled content and is 100 percent REACH compliant with a third-party certified product-specific Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) available.

Mipolam, the original homogeneous flooring, is still the most durable of its category today. It continues to lead innovations with introductions such as Mipolam Symbioz, the only homogeneous sheet flooring made with a 100 percent bio-based plasticizer. Its Evercare never wax stain resistant surface treatment has been proven since 2012 to resist to the harshest chemicals found in healthcare environments, resulting in a durable floor that looks great year after year.
