New Software Aims to Enhances Design Capabilities

Trane, a global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, introduces TRACE 3D Plus software. The redesigned platform is an addition to the TRACE suite of tools, and addresses the demand from engineers and architects for a building design tool that provides faster, more advanced modeling capabilities.

TRACE 3D Plus is built on the Department of Energy’s EnergyPlus calculation engine, allowing users to create more accurate and credible building models. The interface features drag-and-drop components, and 2D or 3D visual model validation helps minimize modeling time and cost.

The new visual interface integrates component and system sizing with energy and economic analysis. This allows engineers to seamlessly move from project plans and files to load design and energy analysis without having to enter data multiple times.

“Engineers and architects are looking for design and analysis tools that not only deliver a more visual and integrated workflow, but also simplify complex industry standards and provide a deeper level of customization for building equipment and controls,” says Matt Biesterveld, with Trane. “With the new TRACE 3D Plus software, users have access to an extensive built-in library and expanded building templates to help them create models even faster with information they can trust”.

In addition to the expanded library of modeling data, TRACE 3D Plus software is integrated with the Trane Official Product Selection System (TOPSS) software. This provides accurate, comprehensive analysis to help make sound building design and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system decisions from conceptual design to as-built performance.

Every TRACE license comes with access to the Trane C.D.S. world-class support portal, which has been enhanced to include screen sharing, a knowledge center, and online ticketing and tracking, providing customers with access to assistance whenever they need it.
