Randy has contributed to numerous mainstream publications, health care periodicals, and the promotion of patient-centered care in the media. In a landmark Bill Moyers’ public broadcasting documentary series “Healing and the Mind”, Randy was recognized as a member of the groundbreaking team responsible for bringing to life the first system-wide Planetree implementation. Carter contributed to the books “Putting Patients First”(Jossey-Bass Publishing) which won the ACHE Hamilton Book of the Year Award in 2004, “Turned On Organizations” (Harper Business) and the first edition of “The Putting Patients First Field Guide: Global Lessons in Designing and Implementing Patient-Centered Care” (Jossey-Bass Publishing) September, 2013.

Randy's expertise in developing and building partnerships along with his passion for communicating industry issues will be key in his role at The Center where he will work with industry partners to develop events, programs and education designed to keep the community inspired and informed.

Debra Levin, EDAC, President and CEO of The Center commented, “We are pleased to welcome Randy as a member of our senior leadership team.  Randy has been both a close associate and a crucial part of our industry having worked with Planetree for over 20 years.  His commitment and passion to our industry will continue to inspire transformation - allowing The Center to continue to provide our members and our partners a glimpse into the future of all that healing environments will encompass."

Susan Frampton, Planetree’s President, noted “We are both excited for Randy’s new role with The Center, and for the new collaborative efforts we will be forging with The Center in order to bring together our complimentary areas of expertise around patient-centered culture change and healing design. Both organizations bring a rich history to this area and expect to work together more closely to bring added value to the field.” Randy will continue his association with Planetree as both an Emeritus Advisor on Patient Experience and a member of the Planetree Speakers Bureau.
