Weak and vulnerable elderly people are increasingly exposed to Candida auris in nursing homes, according to an article on the NewsMax website. 

NewsMax quotes a New York Times report that said the drug resistant fungus and being exacerbated by conditions in skilled nursing facilities.

Cleaning up America's nursing homes must be a priority, according to Betsy McCaughey of the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths.

"They are caldrons that are constantly seeding and reseeding hospitals with increasingly dangerous bacteria," she said in the Times article.
