ONVIF Speaks on Standards, IoT at European Security Conferences

ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that ONVIF Chairman Per Björkdahl will be speaking on behalf of ONVIF at the Amsterdam Security Conference in Amsterdam on Nov. 1st and at SKYDD Protection 2016 in Stockholm on October 27th. He will speak to attendees at both events on the role of standards and their relevance to the fast evolving Internet of Things.

Björkdahl will speak on “How IoT Is Changing Physical Security” at the Amsterdam Security Conference (SSA Conference) on Nov. 1st at the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre. The SSA Conference is hosted by RAI Amsterdam and the Netherlands’ Association of Security Professionals Netherlands (VBN) and will be attended by security managers and professionals, facility managers, security consultants, vendors, system integrators and installation management companies.

“Given the proliferation of the Internet of Things, it’s particularly important for smaller integration and manufacturing companies to leverage the integrations gained through ONVIF and for end users to understand the flexibility offered by ONVIF,” said Per Björkdahl, ONVIF Steering Committee Chair. “ONVIF welcomes the opportunity these conferences provide to engage system integrators, end users and manufacturers at the regional level and to highlight the benefits that ONVIF can provide to them.”

Björkdahl will also be a speaker at SKYDD Protection 2016 in Stockholm on Oct. 27th at 10:00 A.M., speaking to conference attendees on “ONVIF’s Functional Standards for Interoperability” as part of the Smart City seminar track. The conference is hosted by Stockholm International Fairs.

Founded in 2008, ONVIF now consists of nearly 500 member companies in six continents and more than 7,000 Profile conformant products. With Profile S for streaming video; Profile G for recording and storage; Profile C for physical access control; Profile Q for improved out-of-the-box functionality and the Release Candidate Profile A for access control configuration, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.
